Clare, from Delicious Monster Tea
What inspired you to start your business?
I started Delicious Monster Tea one Sunday afternoon in 2016, very much by accident. I was wearing a t-shirt that I had embroidered a little slogan onto and a stranger approached me, asking where I had bought my t-shirt from. In my quietest voice I said, “I made it” and ta-dah! I’d found my very first customer.
In the years since, I have grown my product range to include more wedding keepsake items such as handkerchiefs, wedding dress patches and bouquet ribbons. The inspiration behind all of my products is simply my gooey sentimentality - I embroider a lot of handwritten love notes from family members who have passed away and I will do anything to continue receiving the beautiful, thoughtful, romantic and heart-breaking stories that I get in emails on a daily basis!
What is the best part about being part of someone's wedding journey?
The majority of wedding keepsakes that I make are to remember a family member who has passed away and hence can't be part of the wedding. I love that I'm able to do something small to help the bride or groom feel that their late mum, or sister, or grampy is with them on their special day. The wedding day itself can be so busy and chaotic, but I hope that I'm able to provide a little quiet moment of remembrance with my embroidery.
Can you share with us some of your most memorable weddings?
The keepsakes that I remember are always they ones with the most heart-wrenching stories behind them!
